Course Overview

Many people with diabetes have difficulty maintaining a normal blood glucose level. The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial and the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications study showed that intensive therapy can reduce the long-term risk of retinopathy, neuropathy, nephropathy, and cardiovascular disease associated with Type 1 diabetes. The choice of intensive insulin therapy treatment depends on the wishes of the patient and the comfort and competence of the healthcare team with a given technique. This updated continuing education module provides information to help clinicians better understand insulin pumps and how they work.
