Course Overview

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a main causes of mortality in hospitalized patients and most deaths in patients with a high-risk PE occur within the first few hours of symptom onset. One reason suggested for this high mortality rate is the complex nature of the condition, which can make prompt identification extremely challenging. However, rapid treatment initiation is essential. A multidisciplinary approach is important for improving evaluation and management of PE.

The content in this course is applicable to radiologic technologists and nurses in the acute care setting.
