Course Overview

Nutrition assessment is the cornerstone of the dietetics profession. It is the foundation for all nutrition recommendations and treatment plans. It establishes an appropriate nutritional regimen to support the well-being of individuals cared for by a healthcare provider. There has been a radical shift in how dietitians and dietetic technicians perform a nutrition assessment, and registered dietitians must keep skills current. No longer relying on non-specific lab values, dietetic professionals must use other methods to assess patients‘ health status and then use the Nutrition Care Process to design individualized care and follow-up based on the assessment findings. Dietetic practitioners are only as good as their assessment skills, and this course will help RDs develop a good foundation in nutrition assessment.
