The Delaware Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline Requirements

CE: 40 Contact Hours are required per registration period of CME in Category I courses approved by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association. A physician who is renewing his registration for the first time and who has been licensed to practice medicine in Delaware for more than one year shall be prepared to supply the Board with proof that he has completed twenty hours of continuing medical education in Category I courses.

Specific Course Requirements:
  • All practitioners that hold a controlled substance registration must complete two hours of continuing education in controlled substance prescribing practices, treatment of chronic pain, or other topics related to the prescribing of controlled substances.

  • All practitioners must complete mandatory training required by Delaware law on: (1) how to recognize child sexual and physical abuse, exploitation and domestic violence, and (2) reporting obligations under the Medical Practice Act and 16 Del. C. §903; (3) Delaware-specific information on reporting child abuse.

Licenses expire on March 31st of odd numbered years. (2013, 2015 etc.)
