Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Requirements

Michigan EMS personnel certifications expire every three years.  R 325.22316.  For recertification, an application shall submit one of the following:
 
  • National Registry status if a licensee is currently nationally registered.   R 325.22315.  OR
  • Completion of an applicable refresher course or refresher examination.  325.22314 (2).  OR
  • Completion of continuing education hours as listed below.
 
National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) to maintain NREMT certification and Michigan state licenses.
 
Paramedics:
45 hours of continuing education every three years.   R. 325.22324.
 
EMT Specialist:
36 hours of continuing education every three years.  R 325.22323.
 
EMT:
30 hours of continuing education every three years.  R 325.22322.
 
Medical First Responders:
15 hours of continuing education every three years. R 325.22321.
