Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services Requirements

EMS personnel in Massachusetts are required to renew their certification every two years by March 31st. 105 CMR 170.230 (E). For those certified with the National Registry, national certification must be maintained to renew in Massachusetts. 105 CMR 170.930 (A)(1)
 
Massachusetts requires licensees to meet NREMT National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) requirements.  105 CMR 170.910(A)(5). National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) to maintain NREMT certification and Massachusetts state licenses. 
 
Requirements for Paramedics:
60 hours of continuing education every two years 105 CMR 170.840(C)(2)(b).
 
Requirements for AEMT: 
50 hours of continuing education every two years 105 CMR 170.820(C)(2)(b).
 
Requirements for EMT-Basics:
40 hours of continuing education every two years 105 CMR 170.810(C)(2)(b).
