Summary:

Who would have thought that the microbes in our GI tract can affect our mood and mental health. But they do. What we eat determines the make-up of our microbiome, which then sends signals to our brain. Learn how the gut-brain-microbiome connection works, dietary influences on the microbiome, and how what you eat is tied to your mood, and to mental health.

Objectives:

The goal of this presentation is to review and bring awareness to the importance of the gut microbiome in mental health. Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Define the gut microbiome and discuss the dietary influence on it
  • Analyze the clinical evidence of the microbiota’s influence on the CNS
  • Explain how various health professionals can work together to prevent and treat disorders associated with the gut microbiome
