Vaccination against pneumococcus, herpes zoster, and influenza are important measures to keep healthy and to guard against potentially devastating infectious illnesses. This module is designed to inform healthcare professionals about these diseases and provide updated information regarding currently available vaccine therapies.

About the Course Author

Johnny earned his B.S. Pharmacy degree from the College of Pharmacy at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has earned certificates in Medication Therapy Management, Immunizations, and Asthma Therapy Management. He serves as Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services for Relias and has over 15 years of experience serving in areas of behavioral health including as a psychiatric consultant pharmacist and the pharmaceutical industry. He develops clinical analytic solutions and provides clinical considerations. He has served on the Executive Board of Directors for CMHCs and other medical organizations. He has also served as a cardiovascular consultant pharmacist, pharmacy manager, as an APPE preceptor, and on the college of pharmacy dean’s advisory council. Johnny J. Stephanie Smith, MS, BSN, RN CPN has been a clinical nurse for over 25 years. She trained in New York State as a Licensed Practical Nurse where she practiced pediatric hematology/oncology nursing. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Leadership and Administration from Excelsior College. She is a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN). She is Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified and is a former PALS instructor. Her clinical expertise is in acute pediatric medical surgical nursing and case management for children with medical complexity. She most recently worked at Duke Children’s Hospital as a Nurse Clinician before coming to Relias.

Dr. Kim is a residency-trained pharmacist with years of experience in academia with the Touro College of Pharmacy and in the community. Troy Kish, PharmD, BCPS, is Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Long Island University. He completed a PGY-2 residency in infectious diseases at the James J. He has worked on several continuing educational activities for various audiences and currently lectures on the topics of principles of infectious diseases and clinical oncology to pharmacy students.
