Course Overview

Substance abuse is a major issue in the U.S. Approximately 15.7 million Americans meet the diagnostic criteria for AUD, and 49.5% report using illicit drugs in their lifetime. Dietitians do not typically receive extensive training in their education to prepare them for encountering clients with substance abuse problems, but many will encounter clients or patients with substance abuse issues. They need to know how to effectively work with these clients.
