Course Overview

Trauma radiography is an art. The vast majority of the radiographs that a trauma radiographer must perform have to be improvised. You must know the theory involved in the procedures you perform, and the ability to critically think your way through the procedures and make the necessary adjustments to positioning to accommodate the condition of the patient is an art. The goal of this continuing education program on trauma radiography is to provide imaging technologists with information regarding trauma situations and appropriate care of the trauma patient. This module will discuss trends in trauma statistics along with the basic rules of trauma and the importance of teamwork when caring for the trauma patient. Also, it will identify and explain key patient assessment procedures that are necessary and radiation protection measures employed by a trauma radiographer. Various trauma situations will be explored.
