Summary:

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness that affects all areas of a person’s life. A hallmark of bipolar I disorder is the presence of mania, which includes symptoms of impulsivity, risky behavior, and problems in relationships. A thorough clinical assessment includes evaluation of client function across multiple domains, such as presenting problems, developmental history, mental status, social history, and client resources. Treatment approaches include psychopharmacology and psychosocial therapies, and the evaluation of treatment is an important part of understanding what types of treatment are effective. There are several evaluation tools available to monitor client progress.

Objectives:

The goal of this bipolar disorder continuing education course is to provide mental health clinicians information about the signs, symptoms, and treatment of bipolar I disorder, single manic episode. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe the signs and symptoms of bipolar I disorder, single manic episode
  • Differentiate symptoms between bipolar I disorder, single manic episode and other mood disorders
  • Explain the steps of conducting a clinical assessment of bipolar disorder

 
Approval Information

With a score of 75% or better and completing the evaluation, you may immediately print your CE certificate of completion or save a pdf of it for your records. You may also request a copy to be sent to you by mail. If your score is less than the passing score of 75%, you may retake the test. In the event of loss, there is no charge for a replacement copy of a CE certificate.
