Summary:

Human trafficking is a secretive yet widespread form of slavery in existence today. Trafficking is a problem on a global scale. Many may not realize the widespread scope of trafficking operations that are in force in the United States. It is difficult to obtain accurate numbers as to the scope of trafficking related to the underground or hidden nature of activities. Most victims in the United States are unwilling participants in the sex trade. This webinar provides information about referral resources, tools, assessment data, and reporting to help the healthcare team identify and help victims of human trafficking.

Objectives:

The goal of this presentation is to discuss human trafficking. Upon completion of the webinar, learners will be able to:
  • Describe the types, risk factors for, and extent of human trafficking in the U.S.
  • Identify and recognize possible red flags and victims of human trafficking
  • Identify reporting and referral resources for victims of human trafficking
  • Describe the role and responsibilities of the interprofessional healthcare team in recognition of and intervention for victims of human trafficking

I will be honest, I did not feel it was necessary for me to take this course prior to taking it. Went in with blinders on. The presenter enlightened me to the point that I regret the negativity I was sensing prior to taking this course. Thank you. I will recommend this to friends, family and colleagues.
