Summary:

Ebola is no longer a tropical disease that occurs only in isolated regions of Africa. It has crossed borders through highly populated areas and reached the U.S. Global efforts will be required to stop continued spread. As with other infectious diseases, prevention is the best defense. Healthcare professionals armed with evidence-based knowledge are crucial to this process and well suited to provide the best care possible to those who have been stricken with Ebola.

Objectives:

The goal of this program is to provide healthcare professionals with evidence-based information about Ebola virus disease to guide detection of cases, prevent transmission of infection, and safely manage patients with the disease. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe the clinical features of EVD
  • Explain the screening process for the identification of probable and possible cases of EVD
  • Identify appropriate isolation precautions to use to safely manage patients with EVD

The Florida Board of Respiratory Care will not accept contact hours offered in tenth hour increments (example: 1.6 contact hours). The third world loves to export it's highly contagious diseases. This highly contagious cocktail of virus mixed with blood and bodily fluids is covered in diarrhea and carefully placed inside a piniada at a small child's birthday party. Waiting for the plastic bat to break open the contents onto the family and friends invited to the event. Good luck peeps.
