The initial assessment and management of patients with blunt chest injury are essential to ensuring the best possible outcomes.

Objectives:

The goal of this blunt chest trauma program is to provide nurses, imaging technologists, and respiratory therapists with an understanding of the pathophysiology of injuries related to blunt chest trauma and to promote awareness of the methods used in assessing and managing the care of these patients. After studying the information here, you will be able to:

  • Describe the elements of assessment for patients with sustained blunt chest trauma
