  5. Be able to identify drugs to be given with and without food
  6. Know how drug use differs for the elderly
  7. Distinguish which drugs should not be sued with the elderly per the Beers Criteria
  8. Know risks of adverse effects of drug use for the elderly

very interesting about how FDA lets the herbs slide with what is known about the nutrient drug interaction I think better guide lines should be put in place and more training about looking at what drugs are being given to the patient

The course "Drug Use in Long Term Care (Effects on Nutrition & Health Status) makes me more aware of the drugs and nutrition interaction than I had knowledged before. The elderly whether in care centers or living at home with caregivers are all affected by not disclosing their use of supplements or other over the counter medicines to their MD. Not having the Pharmacy review with the client the side effects or interactions that may occur with their MD prescribed meds and OCM that they take.
