How many people suffer needlessly from undiagnosed fructose malabsorption? Unfortunately, too many. Do you know what fructose malabsorption looks like, or how to treat it? Since fructose consumption has risen exponentially since the 1970s, we are seeing a concurrent rise in the prevalence of patients who may respond to a low-fructose diet. Some of these clients have functional bowel disease, such as irritable bowel syndrome or nonceliac gluten intolerance, while others do not. Learn what fructose malabsorption is and how to diagnose and treat it so that your clients, patients, family, and friends do not have to suffer needlessly.
The goal of this continuing education program is to educate dietary practitioners about fructose malabsorption and teach them how to treat it. After studying the material presented here, you will be able to:
- List several common symptoms of fructose malabsorption
- Discuss the reasons for the increased prevalence of fructose malabsorption in American adults
- Implement dietary treatment for fructose malabsorption
