Summary:

Achilles tendinopathy (AT) is a condition whereby individuals experience pain and impairments as a result of pathological changes at the Achilles tendon and local environment. Pain combined with the ensuing impairments and functional limitations often influence the decision to seek care. The purpose of this course is to provide insight into the structural pathology and clinical signs associated with AT. Practical exercise-based modifications specific to AT are presented in an effort to mitigate the impairment sequela and decelerate subsequent morbidities.

Objectives:

The goal of this continuing education program is to provide an introduction to the clinical diagnosis and management of Achilles Tendinopathy (AT). After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify at least 3 clinical signs and symptoms associated with AT.
  • Describe the anatomical structures responsible for the clinical signs and symptoms of AT.
  • Summarize therapeutic exercise recommendations and modifications appropriate for AT.
