Every few years or so, the healthcare world is abuzz with the latest trend. The term “evidence-based” has been attached to everything from research articles to seminar fliers to rehab equipment. Some people like it while others are not proponents of it. This continuing education program will describe evidence-based practice in healthcare, review its history, and explore how it can positively affect patient care in a practical way, on a daily basis.

The goal of this continuing education program is to provide physical therapists and social workers with information about the evolution and application of evidence-based practice. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Summarize the origins and development of evidence-based practice.
  • Locate evidence-based literature that is relevant to your practice setting.
  • Identify at least four characteristics of high-quality literature evidence.
  • Outline steps to incorporate evidence-based practice into practice.
