Weight gain and body composition changes associated with menopause are one of the most common concerns of menopausal women, along with hot flashes, irritability, fatigue, anxiety, and mood swings. Changes in body shape can have a profound effect on a woman’s self-image. Understanding the changes that menopause causes inside, metabolically, and outside, to body shape and weight, is critical in helping women prevent and combat the changes to her body.

The goal of this menopause and weight gain continuing education module is to provide healthcare providers information on menopause, its role in weight gain, and subsequent changes in body fat distribution. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Discuss the physiology of menopause and its influence on hormone levels
  • Describe the effect of menopause on body fat distribution and metabolic syndrome
  • Discuss diet and exercise strategies to minimize weight gain during menopause

Would not recommend this course only because it does not appear that it has been approved for the current renewal period of 2/2016-1/2018!!! Did not realize this when I purchased the module. Please renew this course as it was very informative!
