The rotator cuff is a complex structure that is injured frequently and requires the services of a physical therapist. This course provides key information about the shoulder and the rotator cuff, and describes common pathologies a physical therapist may encounter. The course offers insight into examination and evaluation, as well as outlining treatment and rehabilitation considerations for the practitioner.
The goal of this rotator cuff continuing education program is to provide physical therapists with information about the rotator cuff musculature and the role the rotator cuff plays in some common upper extremity biomechanics. After completion of the program, you should be able to:
- Describe the basic anatomy of the rotator cuff musculature
- Describe the role of the rotator cuff in basic biomechanics of the human shoulder
- List common pathologies that may be seen with dysfunction of the rotator cuff
