Summary:

The impact on the health and financial well-being of family caregivers is significant. U.S. companies experience billions of dollars in lost productivity as a result of family caregiving’s impact on their employees. Nurses and other healthcare professionals have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives and health of family caregivers. Research documents a chance to improve the health of caregivers when programs are designed to save caregivers time; to relieve them from their responsibilities, even briefly; and to reduce stress and make them feel valued and cared about.

Good article. I plan to recommend this article to my boss to be assigned to be read by the rehab unit as it may help staff to see the burden of caregivers
