About the Course Author

Barbara BarzoloskiO'Connor is the infection control manager at Howard County General Hospital, Columbia, Md. She is responsible for administering, coordinating, and monitoring all infection control functions of the hospital and serves as an educator and consultant with regards to infection control matters. Barbara also serves on other committees and is a liaison between the hospital and public health officials, and is responsible for serving as staff support to the Orthopedic and Pediatric Clinical Department Review Committees. Barbara Barzoloski-O'Connor, MSN, RN, CIC, NHDP - BC has declared that no conflict of interest, Relevant Financial Relationship or Relevant Non-Financial Relationship exists.
Dr. Crowe graduated from the University of Maryland - Baltimore County in 1987 with a BA degree in psychology and social work.  She graduated from the MSW program at Gallaudet University in 1992. In 2000, Dr. Crowe graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore with a PhD in social work. Her professional career primarily focused on mental health in the Deaf community. She worked in multiple settings, including an inpatient psychiatric unit, community mental health agencies (outpatient services), and private practice. While in her doctoral studies and afterward, she conducted research about various issues affecting Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, such as ASL-translated instruments, alcohol use, domestic violence, sating violence, mental health needs, and telemental health.
