This CE course aims to develop pharmacists’ knowledge of narcolepsy treatment options. Learners will first be exposed to a disease state overview, including definitions, etiology, and symptom review. Then treatment options based on sleep disorder guidelines and FDA-approved products will be reviewed, including non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment strategies. Focus will be placed on drug treatments and other pharmacotherapy implications.  


The goal of this continuing education program is to provide pharmacists and other healthcare providers with the information about narcolepsy. Narcolepsy as a disease is reviewed along with non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment options. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Define narcolepsy as a disease.
  • Identify symptoms of narcolepsy.
  • Describe non-pharmacologic treatment considerations for narcolepsy.
  • Review the pharmacologic agents used for the treatment of narcolepsy.
