Healthcare professionals weigh decisions on how to care for patients with pain. With the backdrop of the opioid epidemic and current opioid misuse situations, it may seem that the struggle to determine “the right thing to do” is even more complex. Join a pain management expert for an interesting discussion of how ethics and personal experiences collide in the complex pain management conversation.

The goal of this webinar is to examine and discuss the ethics of pain-management and how we view pain. Upon completion of the webinar, learners will be able to:
  • Discuss why managing patients’ pain is unique and must be considered in an ethical context
  • Describe how the four basic principles of ethics are relative to pain management

Esther I. Bernhofer, PhD, RN-BC, CPE, Nurse Scientist II, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, discloses that she has previously received teaching and speaking fees from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
