Course Overview

All healthcare organizations undergo efforts to improve the safety of patient care. These efforts address a wide range of patient care including peripheral intravenous (IV) therapy. IV therapy is a common treatment modality used in many different healthcare settings but especially in acute. While common, this type of therapy has risks with infection being one concern. All organizations should have quality improvement (QI) practices and policies in place to reduce the risk of IV complications. As a medical assistant, you have a critical role implementing these practices. The goal of this course is to provide medical assistants with information about quality management related to preventing infection from IV therapy.
