Nutrition’s role in HIV/AIDS continues to evolve as the medical treatment progresses and changes, especially considering medications that have made HIV/AIDS a chronic disease. The importance of adequate nutrition status to maintain immunity in relation to the HIV virus is vital to health. Components of nutrition assessments and interventions to improve outcomes in patients with HIV/AIDS are described, including nutrition management of HIV/AIDS as a chronic disease.
