Course Overview

Through the use of guided imagery, healthcare providers can use the power of imagination to evoke positive images to stimulate healing and produce positive changes in a person‘s life. This course focuses on clinicians‘ use of guided imagery. It covers the history and scientific evidence supporting the use of the modality and then describes how to conduct a guided-imagery session.

About the Course Author

Kelly Conway, DNP, CNS, holds a master's degree in adult mental health from the University of California. Conway is a faculty member of the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP) doctor of nursing practice program. Her professional experience includes inpatient and outpatient adult mental health; various community mental health positions, including community case management of the seriously mentally ill population; and psychiatric home health care. Conway's scholarly focuses are mental health, interprofessional collaboration, evidence­based practice, and increasing access to medical and mental health care through outreach. Dr. Stephanie Richardson holds a PhD and a MS from the University of Utah, a BSN from California State University and a BS from the University of California, Davis. Currently, she is a Professor and the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Prior to 2016, she was tenured faculty and held leadership positions at the University of Utah, overseeing General Education and baccalaureate degree requirements, as well as faculty development in education for the university campus and for the College of Nursing. She has been division chair and created and lead academic and development programs at the university, health sciences, department, and college level.
