Course Overview

The Code of Ethics is a set of principles and guidelines that guides ethical social work practice. Some of these guidelines deserve special consideration because of the frequency with which clinicians may face them. These considerations include issues of informed consent, confidentiality and privileged communication, social media and electronic communications, self-determination, dual relationships, and divided loyalties and conflicts of interest. Careful consideration of these issues can help clinicians reflect on potential ethical conflicts and create strategies for avoiding difficulties.
