If the gut works, use it! - Healthcare professionals across disciplines are familiar with that mantra, and well aware that in most cases enteral nutrition is the preferred route of feeding for patients who require specialized nutrition support. While there is general agreement on the unique benefits of enteral nutrition, safe initiation and advancement of enteral feeding is quite often very difficult in practice. This course outlines how to identify patients who may require enteral nutrition support and provides current guidelines and evidence for initiating, advancing, and monitoring enteral feedings in hospitalized patients to ensure they are optimally fed.
The content in this course is applicable to dietitians and pharmacists.
