Summary:

In 2018, an estimated 81,190 new cases of bladder cancer are expected to be diagnosed (62,380 in men and 18,810 in women). The predicted mortality for 2018 is 17,240 (12,520 for men and 4,720 for women). Most bladder cancers occur in people older than 55 years, with 73 being the average age of diagnosis. During the past 20 years, the incidence of bladder cancer has stabilized, but men continue to be three to four times more likely to develop bladder cancer than women. Incidence of bladder cancer is diagnosed more often in whites than in African-Americans or Hispanic Americans. Major breakthroughs have occurred in the past two years. This CE course provides healthcare professionals with an overview of bladder cancer, including risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic tests, staging and treatment.
