Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss in people age 50 and older in the U.S., yet many people go undiagnosed and are unaware of their risk, prevention strategies, and treatments. This educational activity will provide an overview of the pathophysiology, preventive strategies, diagnosis, and management of AMD.
The goal of this continuing education program is to provide nurses and physicians with an overview of age-related macular degeneration, including pathophysiology, risk factors, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment options. - Identify risk factors associated with AMD
- Discuss current nursing measures and medical treatments that promote stabilization of AMD and lifestyle adaptation to the disease
