Summary:

Healthcare teams must communicate effectively with limited English-proficient patients to ensure patient safety and quality of care. They must be able to comply with government regulations, meet accreditation standards, and provide evidence-based care. Healthcare teams also need to know how to use interpreters and understand who is an appropriate interpreter to provide linguistically appropriate care.
