This course provides healthcare professionals with information about hepatitis A and how to prevent outbreaks. The first portion of the course covers the disease state of hepatitis A, with an overview of its incidence, etiology, transmission, signs/symptoms, and diagnosis of the disease. The second portion of the course covers prophylactic methods in detail to prevent infection in special patient populations. Treatment options are covered, along with possible complications that. Specific patient education information is provided to reinforce what healthcare professionals should cover with infected and at-risk patients.


The goal of this course is to provide healthcare professionals with information about the incidence, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of hepatitis A. In addition, information on prophylactic measures that should be taken in high-risk populations is provided. After completing this course, you will be able to:
  • Describe the cause and transmission of hepatitis A.
  • Describe the signs and symptoms of hepatitis A.
  • Discuss how a hepatitis A infection is diagnosed and treated.
  • List the prophylactic measures for preventing infection.
