Today’s clinical nutrition managers face a constant challenge in how to provide high-quality nutrition care to sick patients while facing budget cuts and staff downsizing. About 40% to 50% of all patients admitted to the hospital are at risk for malnutrition, and need quality care. Several strategies are available to help the clinical manager decide on appropriate patient-staff ratios, as well as staff productivity tools and guidelines for recruitment and hiring practices. Clinical managers can exhibit creativity in managing the workforce, including using nontraditional work schedules, while providing quality care and staying within budget.
The goal of this clinical nutrition management training continuing education program is to familiarize new clinical nutrition managers with various aspects of managing human resources and to provide tools to help them manage effectively. - Describe various staffing models, measures of staff productivity and questions pertinent to a staffing needs assessment
