Course Overview

Bowel surgery with anastomosis is a common procedure performed in the U.S. When the bowel is excised or bypassed, the two ends of the bowel are reconnected to maintain continuity. Bowel anastomosis is performed for both benign and malignant lesions. The module gives detailed information on preparation, how anastomosis is performed, and complications. The module discusses routine elective bowel procedures as well as emergency bowel procedures.
