West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Requirements

Continuing education should be completed between January 1 and September 30 during the last year of certification. There are 2 and 4 year certification periods.

CE Requirements for EMTs and Paramedics
                                                                 
First Responder: First responders who recertify every four year are required to complete 18 hours of CE.  Those who recertify every two years require 10 hours of CE.

EMT: Emergency Medical Technicians who recertify every 4 years must complete 28 hours of CE.  Those who recertify every two years must complete 20 hours of CE.

Paramedic: Paramedics who recertify every four years must complete 28 hours of CE.  Those who recertify every two years must complete 20 hours of CE.
