Texas Department of State Health Services Bureau of Emergency Management EMS Requirements

Texas Emergency Medical Care Personnel certifications expire every four years. 25 TAC §157.34(a)(4)(A).  For recertification, an application shall submit one of the following:
        -Examination using the National Registry Assessment Exam
        -Continuing education
        -Documentation of current registration with the National Registry
        -Complete a formal recertification course
 
National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) to maintain NREMT certification and Texas state licenses. 
 
Requirements for EMT-P:
144 hours every four years. 25 TAC §157.38(c)
 
EMT-I
108 hours every four years.  25 TAC §157.38(c)
 
EMT-B
72 hours every four years.  25 TAC §157.38(c)
 
ECA
36 hours every four years.  25 TAC §157.38(c)
