North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Service Requirements

North Carolina licensees must renew their license every four years. North Carolina requires licensees to hold a valid North Carolina, NREMT, or other state EMS credential. 10A NCAC 13P .0504.
 
National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) to maintain NREMT certification and North Carolina state licenses. 
 
Requirements for Paramedics:
120 hours of continuing education every four years. 10A NCAC 13P .0501 (e).
 
Requirements for Advanced EMT (AEMT):
100 hours of continuing education every four years.  10A NCAC 13P .0501 (e).
 
Requirements for EMT:
80 hours of continuing education every four years.  10A NCAC 13P .0501 (e).
 
Requirements for EMR:
32 hours of continuing education every four years.  10A NCAC 13P .0501 (e).
