Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board Requirements

Minnesota certifications must renew every 2 years.  §144E.28.  For recertification, an applicant shall submit one of the following:
 
  • Complete the United States Department of Transportation EMT refresher course and successful pass the practical skills test portion of the course OR
  • Complete the NCCP Model, which has been approved by the EMSRB Board
  • Completion of continuing education hours as listed below OR
 
National Continued Competency Requirement (NCCR) to maintain NREMT certification and Minnesota state licensure. 
 
Requirements for Paramedics:
48 hours of continuing education every 2 years.  §144E.28, subd. 7(b)(2).
 
Requirements for Advanced EMTs (AEMT):
48 hours of continuing education every 2 years.  §144E.28, subd. 7(b)(2).
 
Requirements for EMTs:
48 hours of continued education every 2 years.  §144E.28, subd. 7(a)(2).
