Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Requirements

Louisiana requires all EMTs, AEMTs, and paramedics to obtain and maintain a NREMT credential.   Licenses expire March 31 every two years for individuals who complete the license renewal process between January 1 and June 30.  Licenses expire March 31 every three years for individuals who complete the license renewal process between July 1 and December 31.  Title 46:XXXVIII  §301. 
 
National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) to maintain NREMT certification and Louisiana state licenses. 
 
Requirements for Paramedics: 60 hours every two or three years depending on license renewal date.  Title 46:XXXVIII  §301. 
Requirements for Advanced EMT (AEMT): 50 hours every two or three years depending on license renewal date.  Title 46:XXXVIII  §301. 
Requirements for EMT: 40 hours every two or three years depending on license renewal date.  Title 46:XXXVIII  §301. 
Requirements for EMR: 16 hours every two or three years depending on license renewal date.  Title 46:XXXVIII  §301.
