Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of EMS & Trauma System Requirements

Arizona Emergency Medical Care Technicians (EMCT) certifications expire every 2 years from the date of initial issuance. AAC R9-25-401(C). For EMCT recertification, an applicant shall submit one of the following:

  • Certificate of course completion of an applicable refresher course or refresher challenge examination OR
  • Documentation of current registration in a national certification organization OR
  • Completion of continuing education hours as listed below. AAC R9-25-404(C).

 

Requirements for Paramedics:
48 hours to include a minimum of five hours in pediatric emergency every two years. AAC R9-25-404(C)(3)(c)(i) or (ii).
 
Requirements for EMT-I(99) (Intermediate):
48 hours to include a minimum of five hours in pediatric emergency every two years. AAC R9-25-404(C)(3)(c)(i) or (ii).
 
Requirements for AREMT:
48 hours to include a minimum of five hours in pediatric emergency every two years. AAC R9-25-404(C)(3)(c)(i) or (ii).
 
Requirements for EMT:
24 hours to include a minimum of five hours in pediatric emergency every two years. AAC R9-25-404(C)(3)(c)(i) or (ii).
