Summary:
The goal of this continuing education program is to familiarize EMS personnel with chemical agents that can be used in a terrorist attack, as well as some of the special considerations for children. After studying the information presented here, you will able to discuss the types of chemical agents that can be used as weapons, describe the EMS role in recognizing symptoms related to a chemical attack, and identify the signs, symptoms and management of victims exposed to nerve agents, cyanides, respiratory irritants and vesicants, as well as the differences between how children and adults are affected.
