Susan Swinehart, OTD, MS, OTR, FAOTA
Clinical Occupational Therapy Editor
Susan has 40 years of experience as an occupational therapist. Her practice interests include community mental health, factors influencing practice choices and education. The majority of her career as been as a faculty member at Indiana University, teaching in both occupational and physical therapy programs. She was director of OT admissions, creator and coordinator of occupational therapy honors degree program, and editor of the Occupational Therapy Student Research journal. Her research studies have been published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. She has served in numerous leadership roles at the state and national level. She was president of the International Women’s Association in Vienna. With her occupational therapy background, she worked with the American Ambassador to develop and conduct leadership workshops for women in Eastern Europe. During her time abroad she conducted presentations on Culture Stress and provided consultation to the American International School.
Susan received her BA in occupational therapy from Kansas University, MS in counseling from Indiana University and OTD from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals. She enjoys working at OnCourse Learning with its interprofessional focus and commitment to excellence.
