Executive Director, Nursing, Medicine, and Pharmacy Programs

Jennifer Mensik is the executive director of nursing, medicine, and pharmacy programs for OnCourse Learning where she oversees strategic development of continuing education within these disciplines. She earned a PhD in Nursing from the University of Arizona College of Nursing with a major in Health Systems and a minor in Public Administration from the Eller Business College. In addition to her position as executive director of nursing, medicine, and pharmacy programs for OnCourse Learning, Dr Mensik is faculty for Arizona State University College of Nursing and Health Innovation DNP and undergraduate programs. Jennifer has authored numerous publications including the books, “Lead, Drive, and Thrive in the System” and “The Nurse Mangers Guide to Innovative Staffing” and co-author for “A Nurse’s Step-By-Step Guide to Transitioning to the Professional Nurse Role” and a chapter writer for the book “The Career Handoff: A Healthcare Leader’s Guide to Knowledge & Wisdom Transfer Across Generations.”

Prior to this, Jennifer was employed at St. Luke’s Health System in Idaho as the Administrator for Nursing and Patient Care at the three-time Magnet-designated, St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho. Before joining St. Luke’s, Jennifer was the Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety for the UCLA Health System. In addition, Jennifer worked at Banner Health, based in Phoenix, Arizona, in various roles, including the positions of system Director of Clinical Practice and Research and director of professional practice. There, Jennifer led the development of the Professional Nursing Practice Framework, which is now used in all Banner Health hospitals as well as being adopted by other non-Banner Health hospitals and medical centers nationally. Jennifer was named Alumni of the Year for the University of Arizona, College of Nursing in 2010 and was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in 2014.

Jennifer has served as the president of the Arizona Nurses Association as well as nationally for the American Nurses Association, as Second Vice President and director at large on the Board of Directors. Additionally, she also held the role of Governor of Nursing Practice for the Western Institute of Nursing. Jennifer has published and presented nationally and regionally on quality, staffing, and professional practice and is an article reviewer for Nursing Outlook, World Views on Evidence Based Nursing, and Nursing Economics.
