Debora Davidson has been the editor of Occupational Therapy Continuing Education since September 2011. She works with authors to develop continuing education content that is current and relevant to occupational therapy practitioners in a wide array of professional roles and contexts.
In addition to her position at Gannett, Debora is the co-owner (with her husband, Ken Bolyard) of Bright Futures: Personalized Transition Consulting, a private practice that assists adults with special needs to achieve satisfying lifestyles that include work, leisure, and full participation in the greater community. She periodically teaches at Saint Louis University and Washington University, and volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care.
Debora has over 30 years of experience as an occupational therapist, specializing in child and adolescent mental health and transition planning. She enjoyed a 20-year career as a faculty member at various universities. She has published numerous professional articles and textbook chapters, and presented at state, national, and international professional conferences. Debora serves on the editorial board of the Occupational Therapy Journal of Research, and was the editor for the American Occupational Therapy Association Developmental Disabilities Special Interest Section Quarterly, as well as the University of Texas Medical Branch School Health News.
Debora earned her BS in occupational therapy from the University of Illinois in Champaign, MS in occupational therapy from Boston University, and PhD in educational studies from Saint Louis University. She is excited to serve as the OT editor at Gannett because, by so doing, she can continuously learn and facilitate colleagues’ professional education.
